Weekly Wrap Up

I can't believe another week has gone by... Where does the time go?  I didn't do a whole lot this week.  I'm now 27 weeks pregnant, and my growing belly is preventing me from doing a lot of things I'd like to do... like putting on my socks without having to hold my breath... or removing a splinter from the bottom of my own foot.  Go ahead, laugh.  I'm pretty pathetic right now.  LOL :)

As far as crocheting goes, I did mail out quite a few packages & had a chance to whip up a few new things.  Here's the cute little blue bird hat I made yesterday.  THIS hat is RTS on my AmeliaCalvin fan page... but will soon be available in my shop.

I made a trip to the craft store this week & my son BEGGED me to buy this shiny orange yarn.  I really hate orange, but how could I say no?  I'm really surprised at how much I like this hat.  The yarn has a nice texture, a little shine & it's very lightweight.  The orange colors really make me crave a mango smoothie.  This hat is RTS on my AmeliaCalvin fan page too!

Weekly Wrap Up

I did a lot of crocheting this week, but didn't take very many photos.  I think I shipped out around 12 packages this week, and I'm almost AHEAD of schedule on my project list, so that's pretty good.  I see a few time-consuming projects coming up, and I just need to get them done.  I'm sure you all have a least-favorite item to make... for me, it's sock monkey hats.  They're so cute when they're done, but sewing all the parts on can be... well, it's not my favorite.  At any rate, here are a couple of things I enjoyed creating this week. :)

This little bear was made with a skein of thick/thin yarn I bought from our LYS.  They have small basket full of it in the corner of one of the rooms.  It really is a hidden treasure.  The yarn is so soft & the thick/thin ratio is just great.  You can order these handspun bear beanies in my AmeliaCalvin shop.

This little elf/pixie hat was a special request.  It's a version of the Stella Hat (pattern can be found in my CSC shop) but it has a slightly pointed top & a nice braided "tail."  I can't wait to see photos of this on a sweet baby girl. :)

In other news, I tried to make a "chore chart" for myself, since it works out pretty well for my kids.  I lasted 3 days before I gave up on it.  I just can't seem to get myself motivated.  I can keep up with the laundry and dishes pretty well, but everything else gets neglected.  I'm hoping that I get the urge to start "nesting" soon so I can give this place a good scrubbing.  LOL

Good Yarn Gone Bad - crotch feet

So I visited Etsy, did a search for "crochet boob" and these lovely genitalia slippers popped up.  I really don't know what to say about them.  I don't understand why anyone would make them, and... well, WHO would buy these?  And why was I searching Etsy for crocheted boobs??  Never you mind.

OK... I had a bachelorette party once.  Penis cake, penis ice cubes, flashing penis lapel pin... I get it.  Crotches are funny.  But a yarn penis and yarn vagina mounted onto crocheted slippers?  WHY?

To be fair, this particular seller also has boob slippers in her shop... and I thought those were kinda funny. Anyway... kudos to her for attempting to make them anatomically correct, and for not crocheting them inside out. *shrug*

Weekly Wrap Up

Another week has gone by already?  I got a lot of crocheting done this week, but not much else.  Wish I could get off my butt & get some chores done too!  LOL

My favorite new hat from this week is the Easter Beanie.  It reminds me of a little lacy egg shell.  I just love it & I'm sending it to one of my photographer friends b/c I just know it will look SO cute on a pretty baby girl. :)

I decided to add Football Beanies to my AC shop.  I know football season is over, but I whipped this one up while watching some TV shows on Netflix.  I'm making a little baseball beanie & then I'm sending these 2 of to a photog who's shooting twins soon.  Yeah, people should probably stop saying "shooting" when referring to photography... that just didn't sound good. LOL 

I also had the pleasure of making a toddler-sized boobie beanie this week.  (They're available in both shops.)  I know these hats are a little controversial, but I just love them.  They're meant to support breastfeeding & cancer awareness.  And yeah, they're also funny. :)  I'm going to be having a promotion involving the boobie beanies in both of my shops to raise money for  an upcoming fundraiser.  I'm going to donate some of the profits I make from the beanie sales.  Stay tuned for more info about that.
